About
Anna-Marie Farrier, Ph.D.
Anna-Marie spent her childhood in Japan, the U.S., and the U.K. After graduating from the American School in Japan, she went on to earn an A.B. in English from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in East Asian Studies also from Princeton University. Selected for two Fulbright fellowships and a Japan Foundation Fellowship, she has considerable personal experience with both the U.S. college and academic fellowship application process. She has worked extensively in higher education at institutions such as the National Institute of Japanese Literature, Musashino University, Gakushuin Women’s College, and Princeton University. Anna-Marie also has served as a freelance translator (Japanese-English) for prominent pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies in Japan and the United States.

When she isn't working, you can find Anna-Marie in the kitchen, baking up a storm. Straight after earning her Ph.D., Anna-Marie headed to Paris to indulge her lifelong passion for pastries, studying at Ecole Ritz Escoffier and with acclaimed patissier Pierre Herme. She went on to open Little Oven, a French pastry and macaron shop featured in Martha Stewart Living and in the New York Times, in New York in 2009. She is a firm believer in following your passions, wherever they may lead, and looks forward to finding creative college solutions that allow you to pursue all of your passions on a path that is uniquely yours.

Preparing for college is such an exciting time, but for international students, it also often means preparing to live on their own, far from family and friends. At Study Away, our goal is to take some of the anxiety and stress out of the process to make it the journey of self-discovery it inherently should be. Our comprehensive services cover the entire process from college selection to testing, extracurriculars, summer activities, and essay consulting.

To ensure a flexible and tailor-made college counseling process, we offer College Counseling packages starting at 10 hours. Each additional hour will be charged hourly.
